Getaway planning from St. Louis, and how we reserve rooms
Getaway planning from St. Louis usually starts with a map and a free weekday. These are the eight questions people ask the Florissant office most often before they send a request.
Why the stays are sorted by headcount
Most trips within a day's drive of North County are chosen by feel: a quiet village with one street, a small town with a courthouse square, a river city, or a big city with a full evening ahead of you. The number of people who live in a place is the plainest single measure of that feel, so the nine towns run from the fewest residents to the most.
What does a quote cost?
Nothing. The office writes the quote without charge, and you owe nothing until you approve it in writing. The lodging pays the office a commission after your stay.
Who gets paid, and when?
You pay the hotel or inn directly, at its front desk or under its own deposit rules. No payment passes through this website or through the office.
Can a weekend be reserved instead of weeknights?
Yes. The figures on the site are built on weeknights because they are steadier, but the quote prices whatever nights you ask for. Friday and Saturday nights in the small towns often cost noticeably more.
What if none of the nine towns fits?
Tick the town sizes you like on the form and choose Suggest one. The office will look for a lodging with its own front desk in a town of that size within a day's drive and quote it the same way.
Do you arrange travel coverage?
Insurance of any kind stays outside the office's work: it neither arranges nor recommends a policy. If you want coverage for a trip, look into it on your own before you approve a quote.
Is there an evening call-back?
If you choose a Tuesday or Thursday window between 5:00 and 7:30 pm Central on the form, the office calls you in that window. Daytime calls are taken Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm.
Are the town counts current?
They are the 2020 census counts for each incorporated place, published by the Census Bureau. Towns change slowly; a river village of under a thousand people will still feel like one.
Can the office hold rooms for a large group?
The quotes on this site are for one or two rooms. For more rooms, say so in the note and the office will ask the lodging what it can do and under which group rules.
