A Hannibal Main Street inn stay, reserved for two weeknights
from $2602 weeknights, room for twofrom $130 per personA Hannibal Main Street inn stay puts two people in one of three guest rooms upstairs in an 1875 bank building, a short walk from the Mississippi. Hannibal counted 17,108 residents in the 2020 census, roughly a third of Florissant's 52,533, so on the drawing its row of houses ends just short of ours. It sits in the middle of our nine stays, fifth by size.
Hannibal between its bluffs on the Mississippi
Hannibal sits on the Mississippi River where Bear Creek comes in, with downtown on the low ground between the bluffs. Cardiff Hill rises right above Main Street and carries a lighthouse-style tower at the top; from up there the view takes in the rooftops and the river at once. North of downtown, Riverview Park runs along the bluffs with wooded paths and lookouts over the water.
South of town, Lovers Leap is a limestone bluff with an overlook above the river and the wooded islands below, and a late afternoon there can easily fill itself. Hannibal is also the boyhood town of a celebrated 19th-century American author, and the downtown blocks keep the look of that era: brick storefronts and the river at the end of the cross streets.

Three upstairs rooms in Hannibal's 1875 bank
The inn occupies a two-story brick building on Main Street that opened as a bank in 1875. Guests have three rooms on the upper floor, reached by a staircase, so travelers who would find a staircase hard should tell us early. Check-in runs from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, checkout is at 11:00 AM, and the inn asks that the guest checking in be at least 21. A continental breakfast, a snack and a drink come with the room.
The hosts live on site and run the house themselves. With only three rooms, a given weeknight can fill early, so the office reserves the room as soon as you approve the written quote. You settle the stay with the inn, and the quote itself costs you nothing.
Hannibal's weeknight rate, doubled and rounded
from $260
a room shared by two over 2 weeknights, so from $130 per person
In early November the office looked up a public hotel search page for a Monday night later that month, two guests and one room. The least expensive room showed at $129 a night, and the inn's own page put its entry-level rooms in the same range. Two weeknights at that rate come to just under $260, so we rounded up to the next ten: from $260 for two, which is from $130 per person. As far as we could find, the room rate is the whole nightly charge, and parking at the inn is free. Friday and Saturday nights, and festival weekends in town, are priced separately, at the inn's rate for your dates. Search pages like that one often fold an estimate of taxes into the nightly number, so this figure leans high; your quote separates the room rate from the taxes the desk will charge.
The inn charges the taxes when you settle the bill. Missouri sales tax in Hannibal comes to 9.35%, a point higher inside a downtown improvement district, and the quote confirms the rate for this address, and Hannibal adds a city hotel and motel tax that we understand to be about 6%; the quote confirms the exact rate. Together that is roughly 15% on top of the room, and the final total is confirmed when the room is reserved.
Three upstairs rooms, two nights, one price
- The room for two, two weeknights, at the inn's rate for that month
- Continental breakfast with a snack and a drink each day
- Free parking at the inn
Hannibal spending outside that sum
- Missouri sales tax and the Hannibal hotel tax
- Weekend nights and festival weekends, priced separately
- Lunches, dinners and fuel for the drive
- Riverboat trips and attraction tickets
Spring and fall in the river town
April to October suits Hannibal. The riverfront is busy, the paths at Riverview Park and up Cardiff Hill are pleasant underfoot, and summer evenings at Lovers Leap stay light late. Early fall is a comfortable middle ground, with cooler air and color on the bluffs.
From January to March the river season is over, downtown is quieter, and many visitors find less to fill two days. A winter weeknight can work for a calm break with a long walk and an early dinner, but we point most people toward spring or fall.
Under two hours up the Mississippi
Hannibal is 106 miles from our office in Florissant, about 2 hours 11 minutes with no traffic and no stops. The road heads north through northeast Missouri to the river, so most people leave after lunch and arrive inside the 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM check-in window.
Getting a Hannibal room in writing
Send us your dates, the number of nights and who is coming, and the office replies with a written quote for the Hannibal room: the rate for those nights, what comes with it, and the taxes named line by line. The room is held once you approve the quote; we then place the reservation and send the confirmation in writing.
